Our Work

The impact and value of financial capability nonprofits is unparalleled. The Collaborative supports these nonprofits statewide with capacity building through professional development, direct services, and the Growing Household Income VISTA project. This project affords North Carolina nonprofits the opportunity to host an AmeriCorps VISTA and increase their capacity to work against poverty in our state.

AmeriCorps VISTA

The advocacy arm of The Collaborative, the NC Assets Alliance, is a statewide asset-building coalition comprised of more than 200 member organizations representing all areas of economic improvement. Governed by a member-elected steering committee, the group meets quarterly to set an annual policy agenda and mobilize its members throughout the state.

The Collaborative advocates locally and nationally for policies that promote and encourage economic mobility and dismantle barriers. Focus areas include payday lending, student loan debt, homeownership and more.

NC Assets Alliance

Statewide Networking

There is power and momentum in numbers. The majority of North Carolina financial inclusion and capability organizations are members of the NC Assets Alliance and are all encouraged to join. The Collaborative’s asset-building coalition creates space and opportunity for financial inclusion players to learn from each other.

Pathways to Prosperity Conference

The Pathways to Prosperity Conference is the only event in North Carolina to address the entire range of moments that affect the financial well-being of individuals or families. The conference offers sessions about consumer finance issues, fin-tech and financial innovations, homeownership, strategies to close the racial wealth divide, the integration of financial capability services and more. There is also a pre-conference that addresses bringing people living with disabilities and disadvantaged populations into the economic mainstream.

The Collaborative is focused on closing the wealth gap for communities of color and people living with disabilities. That objective has been adapted to emerging needs and issues through financial coaching, financial education, and increased access to banking.

Financial Coaching

The Collaborative provides financial capability workshops through employers and nonprofits across the Triangle. Workshops cover a range of topics including home-ownership and understanding tax credits and preparation. In order to retain momentum, participants are encouraged to continue their money management journey through one-on-one personalized financial coaching.

BizHUB Small Business Support

Designed to strengthen and support small businesses focused on beauty, health and wellness. The Biz HUB offers 6-weeks of live, virtual workshops, online business accounting training, financial education, and one-on-one financial coaching with small business experts. Participants will complete the class understanding business accounting, state and federal business requirements, marketing and more. This is a great opportunity to improve the management functions and position your business for growth. This program is FREE and sponsored by Truist.

A statewide banking access program that would provide everyone with access to a safe and affordable bank account.
